As it known, OpenOffice.org is an application suite for office work, an alternative to the Microsoft Office.

Its Adoption by the Public Administration, for example, could have really mean the acceptance of the directive of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology (Gazzetta Ufficiale n. 31 del 7-2-2004) in matter of "Development and utilization of information programs by the public administration" there where it said that: "the public administration, in the acquisition and arrangement of information programs, must favour the solutions with the following features:
a) Information solutions that, are based on data formats and open and standard interfaces, must guarantee interoperability and cooperation between different information systems of the public administration" [...]
"b) Information solutions that, in absence of given opposed reasons, don't binds one to a single supplier or a single technology vendor;"
"c) Information solutions that" [...] " guarantees the availability source code for check through and traceability by the public administration".

The course started on Tuesday 9th May 2006 at 15:30 and, naturally, can still be attended in the classrooms of the Campus Satellitare del Salento using our web portal dedicated to learning online.

From that date the course has occurred every tuesday, wednesday and thursday from 15:30 to 17:30 for total of 30 hours.

The course doesn't issue certificates but has prepared to attend two of the seven tests of the ECDL (European Computer driving License), in particular those that are concerning the most important functions of Office applications, to be more precise the third module (elaboration of texts) and fourth module (electronic sheets).

The exam tests, that have legal form, won't be handled by us, but you can carry it out by one of the many structures that permit to sustain the tests of the ECDL using Open Source Programs ( we foresee to give a first list in short-time).

Independently of this, anyway, the courses have permitted those that have attended to be in conditions of being more productive in the use of these essential tools of office automation.
