The core group involved in, and responsible of, the realisation of the satellite transmission system and of the e-learning system, as well as of their management, is represented by the Laboratory for Internetworking and Systems Interoperability (LiiS), of the Department of Innovation Engineering of the University of Lecce, coordinated by Prof. Franco Tommasi.

Since several years the LiiS is involved in research activities in the field of Internetworking (level 3 of the OSI model - Open Systems Interconnection), with special attention in the interconnection processes between open systems. Among the activities of the LiiS, the application of satellite transmission to the e-learning represents one of the most important contribution to the development of concrete applications of the results of the research activity.
