The "Campus Satellitare del Salento" (CSS) was initially created to perform distance learning and education by using the satellite connections, but, during its realization, several new possibilities for different uses in the next future have arisen.
Concerning the content of the audio/video events delivered by CSS, the idea is to extend the use of the system for the dissemination of a wide range of cultural events, such as seminars, conferences, scientific meetings, etc.. An important step in the direction of a strengthen of the CSS system was made with the agreement with the "Consorzio Universitario Interprovinciale Salentino" (CUIS), which will guarantee its sponsorship with direct involvement of CUIS for the next years for the endowment of the CSS and a participation to the relative management costs.
The final goal for the future of CSS is to make this system an efficient tool for the diffusion and the dissemination of knowledge and learning, focused on the cultural and academic resources and traditions of the Salento region, but, by the use of satellite connections and Internet, virtually able to reach any destination on the planet.
